Will Bratt heads to Thruxton Circuit next weekend, 13th/14th October, aiming to sign off his Formula Renault UK race career in winning style during the 2007 championship finale at the ultra-fast Hampshire venue.

On the back of being named a BRDC Rising Star three weeks ago, the Banbury 19-year-old is hoping to not only cement his top three placing in the driver standings but to also add to his 2007 victory tally which currently stands at four wins.

With plans to graduate up the single-seater ladder in 2008, next weekend’s action looks set to be Will’s last at the wheel of his Apotex Scorpio Motorsport-run Formula Renault and there would be no better conclusion to the season than claiming a double win, something the Oxford University scholar is hoping to make reality.

Although the 2007 Formula Renault UK title is just out of reach for Will, finishing third in the championship will be a superb achievement alongside helping Loughborough-based Apotex Scorpio to its highest ever placing in the entrant’s standings, currently third as well.

“It’s been a good year, we’re really looking forward to the last two races and definitely have our sights on the podium”, commented Will, “I’m pretty confident we can be in the fight for a couple of wins and there’s no doubt we’ve moved forward since the previous Thruxton races earlier in the year.

“Whatever happens next weekend though, we’ve had a great season and so I’m just going to approach qualifying the same as I always do, aiming to try and get on the front row at least and then take as many points as I can which will hopefully be through two wins!”

During the official pre-race Thruxton test in August, Will and the team concentrated on a number of set-up variations and didn’t push for out-and-out quick lap times. Even so, he still managed to be in the top 10 during the morning and eighth fastest in the afternoon session.

Will added: “Thruxton is a track where good set-up is critical for the very fast corners but you’ve got to have the car working well in the complex and chicane too. It was good to have the run at Snetterton earlier this week actually as it’s been a long break since Donington, it was great to be back in the car. I can’t wait for next weekend, I’m really going to enjoy it.”

Round 19 qualifying is timetabled to begin at 10.20 on Saturday, 13th October, with the round 20 session following at approximately 14.40. Both of the weekend’s races will take place on Sunday, 14th October, with the first 16-lap encounter scheduled to start at 12.20 and the second race expected to get underway at 17.00.
