Will Bratt heads into this weekend’s 13th and 14th
rounds of the Formula Renault UK season at Snetterton
confident of maintaining his top three placing in the
championship standings after a solid performance in pre-event
testing at the Norfolk venue today.
The 19-year-old Apotex Scorpio Motorsport star, from Adderbury
near Banbury, ended today’s brace of 50-minute test
sessions fourth fastest overall on combined times with
a best lap of 1m 05.260 seconds (107.68mph), set during
the afternoon.
Headed only by three Fortec Motorsport drivers, Will once
again underlined his position as the main rival to the
reigning champions and is hoping he will be able to continue
his excellent run of success which has seen him climb
the podium at each of the last three race meetings.
During the first of today’s two sessions, the triple
race winner produced a quickest lap of 1m 05.806 seconds
(106.78mph) to set the fifth fastest time and it is hoped
the team will be able to carry this level of consistency
through to Saturday’s two qualifying sessions.
“We’ve had two good, strong sessions today
and I’m happy with the car”, said Will at
the conclusion of the test, “Obviously there are
no prizes for today, we’re not going to know exactly
where we are until tomorrow but we’re certain we
should be very competitive when the pressure is on.
“We made progress throughout the day which was good
and we are feeling pretty confident ahead of qualifying.
We know there is work to do to get ahead of the Fortec
cars but we’ve been best of the rest again today,
we’re pumped up for the challenge.”
Round 13 qualifying is scheduled for 10.40 tomorrow, Saturday,
28th July, with the round 14 session expected to follow
at 14.50. Both of the weekend’s races will take
place on Sunday, 29th July, with round 13 timetabled to
begin at 11.05 and round 14 set to follow at approximately
16.10.
Digital satellite and cable subscription channel Setanta
Sports 1 will broadcast both Formula Renault UK races
