Adderbury single-seater star Will Bratt confirmed he
will be in the hunt for podium results once again when
the second half of the Formula Renault UK season starts
at Donington Park National Circuit this weekend, the triple
race winner posting top three times in both of today’s
test sessions at the famous Leicestershire track.
Driving for Loughborough-based Apotex Scorpio Motorsport,
the 19-year-old lapped with a best time of 1m 06.535 seconds
(105.90mph) this morning to end the first of the day’s
two sessions in third position and then went on to confirm
his pace in the afternoon, a lap of 1m 06.558 seconds
(105.86mph) seeing Will set the third fastest time once
more.
Since the beginning of the current season the Oxon racer
has certainly matured into a genuine championship challenger.
With three victories from the last four races and another
podium finish from earlier in the season to his credit,
hopes are high Will can attain more success this weekend
during the 11th and 12th rounds of the season.
Commenting on today’s pre-event test sessions, he
said: “Obviously I’d have preferred to be
fastest today but to be in the top three in both sessions
was good and I’m pretty happy with our pace. We
do need to improve if we’re to challenge for wins
this weekend but I’m confident a couple of podiums
are quite possible.
“Both sessions were quite similar really, we were
closer to the outright pace in the afternoon but there
are still a couple of things we need to work on before
qualifying on Saturday to make sure the car is working
as well as possible. The team has done a good job today
and hopefully we’ll enjoy some good results together
this weekend.”
As Apotex Scorpio’s home event, this weekend’s
races carry a great deal of importance for both driver
and team and having achieved a podium during the corresponding
fixture last year, the successful combination carries
rightful confidence into Saturday’s two qualifying
sessions.
The round 11 qualifying period is scheduled to take place
at 10.35 on Saturday, 14th July, with the round 12 session
following at 15.15. Both of the weekend’s 16-lap
races, which will receive live television coverage on
digital satellite and cable subscription channel Setanta
Sports 1, are timetabled for 10.40 and 16.10 on Sunday,
15th July.
