Adderbury motor racing star Will Bratt made an excellent
return to his rapid best at Snetterton Circuit in Norfolk
today during the latest official Formula Renault UK test
session of the 2007 pre-season.
With just over three weeks to go until the curtain-raiser
for this year’s championship at Brands Hatch Indy
Circuit in Kent, the 18-year-old certainly reminded everyone
of his title credentials at Snetterton today with some
consistently quick lap times throughout the two test sessions.
Although faced with a wet track this morning, a dry line
appeared in good time ahead of the lunchbreak and Will
revelled in the conditions at the 1.95-mile circuit, posting
the second fastest time with a best lap of 1m 06.775 seconds
(105.237mph).
Will’s morning performance was all the more impressive
considering he only completed a total of 34 laps in his
Apotex Scorpio Motorsport car while the majority of other
drivers within the top six spent almost double the time
on track.
The three and a half hour afternoon session remained dry
throughout so Will and his team chose to use the time
wisely and conduct a lot of work on a variety of set-up
options. His best lap of 1m 05.296 seconds (107.621mph)
was eighth quickest overall, just a couple of 10ths of
a second shy of the top four.
“We made some really good progress today, we’re
delighted with how the test has gone so far and we’re
looking forward to another good outing tomorrow”,
said Will, “The morning session went well, especially
considering how few laps we did compared to the majority
of front-runners. To be second fastest was great.
“During the afternoon we concentrated on a lot of
different work so the times aren’t necessarily a
true indicator. We know we could have been a good two
or three 10ths of a second quicker which would have placed
us in the top four so everything is going as well as we
could have expected. We’re right on target with
our programme.”
Official Formula Renault UK Championship testing continues
at Snetterton Circuit tomorrow, Thursday, 8th March.
